The end of winters doesn’t just signify the arrival of the spring season but it also demarcates the beginning of the prestigious board exams. I am reminded of the time when I was in my mid-teens and all set to give my class 10th board exams.
From the very beginning of the session strict advices would come pouring in about how to tackle the boards from relatives and acquaintances from all over. I had also pulled up my socks and was all set to face the boards. The time table was prepared and a strict study schedule was designed. But after one or two weeks the schedule used to get amended to introduce the so called relaxation time.
The study time went to a soaring height after the pre-board result (which was not so good). It was not just the exam pressure that had its toll on me but also the great expectation of parents and the appalling fact that this was the beginning of my career making year.
Lots of suggestions from all over the world seem to pour in everyday from one or the other of our relatives. Getting up early in the morning being the most common one. But frankly I never used to leave the bed before atleast 10 the morning. Relatives from all over used to call to give their best wishes and advices about what should be done and what not.
Under the heaps of advices and burden of scoring high in the exams finally the exam day arrived. The scenario at the exam center was not encouraging, and it only added to the already sky-soaring tension. Amidst all the stress and strain we finally entered the examination hall. Sitting there was no fun especially with faces around you doing last minute recalling of the facts. Finally the exam paper arrived, and to my relief it was no monster as my night-mares from past days had been suggesting. Neither was it form out of the blue. Now I was a little comforted. And the 3 hours of exam time were finally over. One by one all exams went fine.
Phew! I was so relieved the moment I stepped out of the exam center on the day of my last exam. It felt like loads and tons of burdens had been removed from my head.
However there was yet another thing that had to be tackled after the exams were over, and this was gigantic than the former. How to spend the holidays???
